Should violent video games be banned?

Why do people think that violent video games should be banned? Is it because people don't like how everytime you shootsomebody there is blood everywhere? I think that only the bloody and the gory games should be banned.

Many parents would like to ban violent games because all their children think about is:

• halo
• devil may cry
• grand theft auto
• true crime
• manhunt
• resident evil
• etc.

This is a real problem because it can put many people's academic levels on critical. Another problem is that many children (1-7) can get nightmares from games like resident evil and manhunt. There have been many news stories saying that the player acted like the most violent player. The latest shooting in an illionois college classroom was started by 27 year old Steven Kazmierczak who sources say was "addicted to a ultra-violent video game". Many people try to stop kids from buying violent games. For example, some video game store cashiers have set up a "law" in his/her store. This "law" is that the buyer has to be the required age that the game tells them to be. You can see this age next to the rating of the game. Of course there are also times where the parent let's he/she play the game because the child said that the game is very nice. This is wrong in two ways.

1. Parents are not supposed to spoil their children.
2. It is still a violent video game that can destroy your child's mind.

I'd say that a reasonable solution is to put more activity in the person's life. When he/she is done with the activity they might be so tired that they don't want to play unless their really addicted to the game. Another solution is to give the person a hobby. If the he/she is focusing on what their collecting then they won't have time to focus on their video games.

Many thing would change if all this just stopped suddenly. I'm definetetly sure that the crime rate would go down by at least 10% whoch could save many lives. Also there could probably be less lazy kids. Everyone kid would be so bored from no video games that they would have to do outdoor activities making them more active. Sure, this would result in 95% percent of the school would try out for football and 92% percent wouldn't make it but at least they wanted to, and they were active enough to do the excercises and not die from tiredness. (joking about the dying part)

In conclusion to my essay gory and violent games should be banned in the minds of some people and in the minds of others they should not. We are still facing the conseqeunces of these video games but some day the new president, hopefully Obama will not ban the games, just try to make them less bloody. I also hope that whoever reads this thinks that children below 9 should be playing games with the mature rating no matter how they found it or where they got it.
